   Frequently Asked Questions and Information

What is shareware?

Shareware - copyrighted computer software that is distributed free of charge but is usually accompanied by a request for a small payment from satisfied users to cover costs and registration for documentation and program updates.

Software with voluntary payment:  software made available for free trial with the understanding that users will voluntarily pay a fee to the author or publisher if they continue to use it.

How do I download and install your software?

The following link has a great explanation on how to download files:  http://asp-shareware.org/users/how-to-download.asp

After downloading a program you will then need to unzip the file using the WinZip program, it can be downloaded at: www.cnet.com.

After unzipping the program click on the setup.exe file and follow the prompts to install the program.

Who is R. E. G. Software?

R. E. G. Software has been developing computer software since 1988.  Our first programs were marketed in the local area. Then in 1997 we uploaded our first programs to the Internet as Shareware. We have sold thousands of programs via the Internet.  We plan to be here for as long as people find our software beneficial.

We currently have several programs available to meet a variety of needs.

We are located at:

    R. E. G. Software
    6263 West  10830 North
    Highland,  Utah  84003

What is a Program/Registration Code?

A program/registration code is the code you receive from us that once properly entered turns off all program limitations and enables the program to function as a full feature software program.

After receiving the code, please go to the Trial copy screen in the program and enter the Registration/Program Code and press Enter or Click OK. Data should appear indicating a correct code has been entered, the program is now a full version unlocked program.

If you have to reformat your computer hard drive and re-install any of our programs, you will have to reenter the program registration code again.  So be sure and put it in a safe place so you can use it again if needs be.
[Note: if you do lose the code and have computer problems, we do keep a record of all our customers, so if you did purchase a program/registration code and can't find it, we will email you it again, in most cases.]

How do I obtain a Program/Registration Code?

There are two ways to obtain a Program/Registration Code.  First, is to  use our Online Option that is part of the trial screen  or fill out the Registration form that is accessible in the trial copy information screen that appears when you first start one of our programs.  Please enter the requested information, print and then send to us at the above address, including a check or money order for the amount of the desired program.   For fastest delivery be sure and include your email address with your request.

What is your refund policy?

Generally we will not be able to refund your registration cost after you have purchased a program/registration code.
The reason for this is that we have no way of knowing if you are still using our software or not on your computer.
Second, since our software is shareware, this gives you the opportunity to try it out before purchasing anything to make sure it meets your needs.
The exception to this policy is if there is a flaw in the software that we are not able to correct then we may refund your purchase price.
Hope you understand why we have to take this position on refunds.

What if I need support or have a question about your software.

Please email us immediately and we will usually respond within one business day to your inquiry about our software.

If you are reporting a problem in the functioning of one of our programs that we did not find during the Quality Assurance testing of the software, then we will try to duplicate the problem.  Or if you have a suggestion on making a program better.  This is where the shareware approach shines.  If we are able to duplicate the problem and fix it or we are able to add a requested function, we will immediately upload the new version and it can be downloaded immediately to correct a problem or add a new feature.

What are the computer requirements to run your software?

Operating System:  Windows 95* or Higher.
(*Note: The new Help Display we now use requires Windows 98 or Higher, our programs will still run on 95, but the help files will not be usable if you are still using Windows 95.)

Monitor Resolution:  800 x 600 pixels or Higher.

Hard Drive Space:  Most programs use between 8 and 15 MBs of Hard Drive Space.

Can I share a program with someone else?

Certainly, in fact when shareware was first introduced, it was encouraged that you share the programs you like with others.  This is how the programs grew in users.  Today, since the programs are so large, usually we just encourage you to tell others of a program so they can download it from sites like this and try it out.

Can I share my Program/Registration Code with someone else?

Sorry, this is against the rules.  Sharing your Program/Registration Code with someone else, forfeits your right to legally use one of our programs.  Sorry for sounding so negative in this matter, but we would like to stay in business, and besides we have priced our Codes at an economical level so they can be purchased by almost anyone. Besides, sharing your Code with others would really make us sad!

Do I have to purchase a New Program/Registration Code for each new release of a current program I have previously purchased?

At the present time we do not require you to purchase a new code for each update or new release.  Periodically, there may be a request for a small amount when you upgrade to a newer version but the amount will be reasonable.

How many computers can I have your program running on?

You may put our programs on any computer that is in your home, for your use only!  This means that if you have a desktop computer and a laptop that are used in your home, it is alright to have the program on both of these computers.  We have made our programs reasonable in cost and request that you do not give the Registration Code to others.  Each person who would like to use our programs should register them on their own.  Thank You for your assistance in this matter.

For our business software, you may put our software on as many computers as you have purchased licenses for.  The exception to this is if you are a single person practice or realtor, then the program can be on more than one computer in that practice or office.

What limitations are found in your unregistered programs?

Normally, an unregistered program will let you use most functions.  Sometimes, you can only print certain columns of information or view restricted amounts of data.  Other than that, all functions and capabilities of the program are there for  you to use and evaluate.

There is not a time limit - such as 30 days from the time you first load the software until it becomes unusable.  Instead we selected a number of usage times (15 times in most cases), which allows you to enter the software and use it until the number of uses has be utilized.  This way if you go on vacation or don't use the software for a few weeks, you are not blocked from entering or using the program, until the 15 trial uses have been utilized.
